Hike and a picnic
Today is the 100th anniversary of my mother’s birth. I discovered this delightful clipping about a hike to a farm and a picnic with storytelling under a big tree she helped to organize. It could be straight out of Anne of Green Gables.
I love finding these blurbs. This and others are giving me new insight into my parents’ early lives pre-me.
So fortunate that such events counted as news, worthy of being recorded. But who could’ve imagined that they’d be so easily discovered so long after?
I know it seems a little silly, but maybe it helped create a better sense of community than we have now. My mother was an enigma in some ways, so I appreciate the insight that 21st technology (and a hefty subscription fee) can uncover.
