Can a May day get better than this? (Promontory Point, Hyde Park) — 2 Comments
I knew that place looked familiar. I didn’t know it was called Promontory Point. The strange thing is that I remember it as looking more like the sketch version. (I haven’t been there in years and years.)
Sorry, this somehow fell into spam, where I forget to check. You should visit again — I live across the street. You may be aware that the Point played a role during the Cold War — there’s a surreal photo at http://m-epperson.home.comcast.net/~m-epperson/nike/ of radar towers at the Point. There’s been a movement to “Save the Point,” but I can’t find the website anymore, and I don’t see the bumper stickers as much. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Promontory_Point_(Chicago)
